August 28
Fort Steele***Lake Louise
Got on the bus this morning to start our trek up north to the Canadian Rockies. First stop along the way is Fort Steele in British Columbia, a designated heritage town and National Historic Site of Canada in 1967.

Next stop is the Radium Hot Springs in the Kootenay NP.

The scenery from the bus on our way to Lake Louise.

Arrived at the beautiful Chateau Lake Louise and couldn't be happier with my room. The view of the lake was just perfect!

Looking out my wide window to see the beautiful Lake Louise was just a great way of waking up!

Walked along the lake and took more pictures of beautiful Lake Louise this morning.

Our group picture.

Time to move on and on the road another wildlife sighting!

We stopped at Bow Summit to view Peyto Lake, named for Bill Peyto, an early trail guide and trapper in the Banff area, a glacier-fed lake in Banff National Park.

Beautiful scenery on the road to Jasper.

Next stop was a raging waterfall.

Arrived at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, situated on the shores of Lac Beauvert. The lodge had first been established in 1915 as a "Tent City," in association with the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway, but by the 1920s the property was under the management of Canadian National Hotels. Eight bungalows were constructed in 1921, and work began on additional cabins and a main lodge building two years later. The main building, reputed to be the largest single-level log structure in the world, was destroyed by fire in 1952; it was replaced by the current lodge, which was completed the following year.
